ARTWORKSPop Art
Galerie Hurtebize, which specializes in Modern Art, offers a selection of works by Pop Art, an artistic movement that emerged in England in the 50s. The following decade, it spread to the United States, where society was strongly affected by the rise of consumerism. Its subjects and materials were borrowed from everyday life and popular culture, and tended to desacralize the work of art by making it accessible to all. A veritable tool of political propaganda, he denounced the booming consumer society and capitalism of the time.
